Sammy Boyd began his career in music over 40+ years ago as a musician. Realizing his greater skill was in the art of the deal, and surprisingly equally gratifying, he became a highly sought after booking agent & manager throughout the Tri-State area leading to his exclusive representation of Jimmy Cliff, Inner Circle, Ace Frehley & Peter Criss (from Kiss), Foghat and Orleans to name a few. Shortly after 9/11 Sammy left the music industry and, at the suggestion of Pat Schiavano, started a new career as a real estate agent on the Jersey Shore. Joining the John C. Conover Agency (now Berkshire Hathaway), Sammy rose to the position of the number 1 real estate agent in Abury Park, helping to generate both new businesses and renewed interest in the community. He has remained one of the top 3 ever since. Sammy has taken on the role of mentor to many new agents helping them establish their careers in real estate also.
Once established in his new career, his passion for music and dedication to community led him to establish TBO Events (To Benefit Others). Sammy began working with both local and national charities, helping to raise much needed funds. Shows are presented in venues of all sizes, from the Saint and Wonder Bar to the Basie and Paramount Theaters. Producing and promoting acts like Tony Bennett, Liza Minelli, Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons, Chicago, Darlene Love with Steven Van Zandt and Asbury's summer staple - Happy Together Tour with Tony Pallagrosi.
These shows have benefited many different organizations throughout the year, such as: Big Brothers Big Sisters, The Boys and Girls Clubs of Monmouth County. Light of Day Foundation, Little Kids Rock as well as many smaller, but equally important, causes.
In recent years Sammy has been honored by the Asbury Park Music Community & The Saint, receiving the Living Legend award, has been Vice President of the Asbury Park St. Patrick's Day Parade committee since it's inception, joined a great group of people from the local music community & the Asbury Music Foundation to help bring live music back to the westside of town through a Levitt Foundation grant. Sammy also received The Spirit Of Asbury Park award from the Chambers of Commerce Carousel Awards, for his continuous dedication to the people of the city. Boyd returned to managing for the band The Weeklings - featuring national and local artists Glen Burtnik, Bob Burger, John Merjave and Joe Belia, for their first 3 years as well as co-produced the new summer series "Paramount Backstage" with Madison Marquette.
Between real estate, music and community Sam has decided to open a new restaurant on the Asbury Park Boardwalk - Marucca's of Asbury Park is expected to open in the spring of 2019....stay tuned for updates!
